Bringing Background Music to the Foreground

The Standard Pub on Bedford High Street has a great location on a main road, but plenty of competition from the many other pubs in the area. Formerly known as The Hobgoblin, The Standard has undergone a complete facelift and is laid out over two floors with an unusual and impressive roof top garden. It retains a traditional theme, but brought up to date with customers’ current expectations.

The newly styled pub saw music as a priority and understood the value of getting the music offering right given the size and location of the pub. The owners did a lot of research into various background music systems but found they were expensive and limited in music content.

By chance they came across the Hire Jukebox website and watched the VenueHub demonstration video. They told us that they were impressed. What they particularly liked about the VenueHub jukebox is its ability to create custom playlists.

Playlists and background music timers can be set within the jukebox engineer settings. Songs can be individually selected and played either in order or randomly. Not only that, but the background music timers allow the site to play different playlists at different times, by selecting the day and time you want the selected profile played – for example; Lunchtime, Sunday morning, Friday night.

Songs can be played continuously or within timescale of preferred by the site.

When the customer selects a song to play from the jukebox, the background music song fades out and the paid-for track fades in effortlessly.

For further control, the VenueHub allows the venue to limit the music selection that customers are able to choose from. This can be detailed to the individual track or genre.

The jukebox at The Standard has proved to be a huge success. Not only has it served its purpose by providing background music for pubs,  but it has allowed customers to choose the music they like and as a result they are staying longer. This is important, especially in a city centre bar, which is competing against many other venues.

The VenueHub jukebox is updated every week with new music via an online connection. The VenueHub at The Standard is hard-wired using a Cat 5 cable directly into the router. Customers are able to select music from over 5 million tracks that can be downloaded onto the jukebox within seconds. Cashbox levels have been amazing.

Hire Jukebox positioned the jukebox next to the bar. The eye-catching, sleek cabinet with 32″ touchscreen display is the perfect advertising tool. The Standard simply uploads jpeg images of promotional posters and photographs via the USB port within the machine.

On its website, The Standard describes Venuehub, as “a jukebox to rival all jukeboxes.” We are proud to be part of the transformation of such a great city centre pub.
