The Firs Club in Wolverhampton

V-HUB : When a Good Jukebox Can Do Even Better!

The Firs Club in Wolverhampton is one of our success stories. They have had a digital jukebox for the past year and it has gone from strength to strength.

The Committee has been very supportive and interested in the jukebox and we have worked closely with them to make sure they have all the music they want, when they want.

Committee member Barry Turner has provided us with lists of music that he and the other club members would like to have on their jukebox and we have been happy to work with them and put their selection into their Venue Favourites category.

This is something we offer to all of our customers and it is not unusual. However, we have to say that the selection that Barry has asked for has to be among the most diverse and obscure that we have ever seen.

For example, here are just some of the tracks they asked for.

1. Penny Arcade – Roy Orbison
2. Young, Gifted and Black – Bob and Marcia
3. Rudy ,A Message to You – Dandy  Livingstone
4. Train to Skaville – The Ethiopians
5 . Liquidator – Harry J and the All Stars

We have always managed to find and upload these tracks. It has made the jukebox their own and helped increase takings. In order to give the members inspiration for tracks to play, and in order to promote the jukebox, the club also placed a book called “British Hit Singles & Albums” next to the jukebox.

Due to the level of interest the club members showed in their music choices and the number of obscure tracks they enjoyed, we advised them to upgrade their digital jukebox to the top of the range VenueHub.

The VenueHub has over 7 million tracks available to download at anytime. For pubs and clubs like The Firs where the customers are into their music and have such diverse tastes then this is the ultimate jukebox to cater for this type of demand.

Not only does the VenueHub have amazing music content is also packed with amazing new features such a “Music Spider”. Music Spider allows the user to enter the name of an artist or band and in return it will make intelligent suggestions based on the selection. It is similar to Genius on iTunes, or Amazon’s website.

Music Spider is a great way for customers to interact with the jukebox as sometimes people find their minds go blank when they are looking for music to play. Music Spider reminds them of the type of tracks they enjoy and also sometimes introduces people to artists they haven’t tried before.

Of course, we also added all the existing Venue Favourite songs from the old jukebox onto the new V-Hub. That was important to the site. They loved the previous jukebox and didn’t really see the need to change. But we at Hire Jukebox could see the potential. We knew that the new jukebox would be more profitable but more importantly it would keep the members happy.

It was put to the committee and we made a presentation of the benefits and happily they agreed. Even more happily, the decision paid off. The members are thrilled with new jukebox and takings have gone up 30% by having the unlimited download facility.

Marc Bird said “When we work closely with pubs and clubs we gain a valuable understanding as to how they are going to use their jukebox. We listen to what they tell us and then we know which model of jukebox will suit them best. The V-Hub is a music-lovers’ jukebox and we could see from the fact that they even had a book to inspire them that they would love the ‘Music Spider’ feature.”

Committee member Barry Turner said “I take my hat off to Hire Jukebox. Their advice has been second to none. Just over a year ago we had some committee members with doubts that a jukebox would even work. Now it couldn’t be further from the truth. The jukebox is the heartbeat of the club.”
